Ahmedabad: Gujarat Parivartan Party president and former chief minister
Keshubhai Patel claims to have support from 40-odd BJP MLAs who are ready to
quit their party and contest the assembly polls on GPP tickets.
On the second day of the Parivartan Yatra, which passed through Visavadar on Friday, the constituency from where he plans to contest in the forthcoming elections, Patel stated that several BJP MLAs were unhappy with their party’s leadership. The yatra passed through Mendarda, Visavadar, Bhesan, Bagasara and reached Dhari where Patel equated Modi to a rampaging bull. “Like a bull destroys standing crops, Narendra Modi is destroying the society at large. He keeps the entire state under fear where there is no law and order,” he said.
GPP general secretary Gordhan Zadaphia said that it was Keshubhai Patel who had conceived Kalpasar project and had also carried out the study. However, Modi has failed to implement the project.
Zadaphia credited Patel with laying foundation of BJP in Gujarat and charged Modi with pushing him into obscurity him. “It was Keshubhai who had worked for setting up BJP in Gujarat and Modi sidelined him. When Keshubhai realized that he had no say in the party, he tendered his resignation,” he said.
