Posters mocking Modi surface near fast venue

Express News Service

Rajkot: The police have registered a complaint against unknown persons after posters showing CM Narendra Modi donning a green kurta and skull cap and moving towards “PM’s chair” sprung up near the official residence of city Mayor on Race Course Ring Road, which was also the venue for Sadbavana Mission on Monday.

Pradhyumannagar police inspector V B Jadeja, who has become the complainant, booked unknown persons for promoting enmity between different groups on lines of race, religion or caste that threatens communal harmony.

The complaint was filed on Sunday after posters with two photos of Modi, one in saffron kurta and another in green kurta, appeared near the fast venue. “Na Hindutva Ka, Na Sadbhavana Ka, Ye Khel Hai Kurshi Ka (Not Hindutva, not Sadbhavna, this is a game for political chair),” the posters said.

On Saturday, former Mayor and now a BJP councillor, Uday Kangad, had allegedly attacked city Congress president Jaswant Bhatti with a revolver butt over after Congress workers removed some Sadbhavana posters that blocked the view of a Rajiv Gandhi statue on Race Course Ring Road. Following attack, the Congress had removed all BJP banners from the same road.
