Vibrant Gujarat far from reality: Girija Vyas

Senior Congress leader Girija Vyas has accused Gujarat Government of misleading people by using expressions such as Vibrant Gujarat to paint a rosy picture of the state.
“There are two images of Gujarat – one, is a mythic Gujarat and the other, the real Gujarat. The image of the mythic Gujarat – being projected as Vibrant Gujarat – is far from reality,” said Vyas, while addressing the media in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
The former chairperson of National Commission for Women (NCW) was here to campaign for her party ahead of the upcoming December 13 & 17 elections.
Vyas said that Gujarat’s economy was thriving with growth rate of 16.29%, 14% and 17% under Congress CMs Madhavsinh Solanki, Amarsinh Chaudhary and Chimanbhai Patel respectively, but the growth rate has slipped to single digits under BJP government.
The MP from Chittorgarh, Rajasthan said that CM Narendra Modi has succeeded in hiding Gujarat’s real picture for ten years, but his time is up. “I can only say you can fool some people for some time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time,” she said.
Addressing an election rally in Anand earlier in the day, Vyas accused Modi-led BJP government of failing on all counts. “Gujarat's industrial growth has fallen. There is no water for farmers. They are facing difficulties in getting loans. Fewer jobs are being created. The weaker sections are untouched by development, and the social fabric of the state has been damaged.”
Vyas also said that a number of states – including Bihar, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka – were growing faster than Gujarat.
