The designated Special Court on Monday severely criticised the apex court appointed Special Investigation Team for its failure to produce an accused in the Naroda Patiya massacre case.
Suresh Netalkar, a convicted accused in the Naroda Patiya massacre case, has been absconding while on bail and, thus, was not produced before the Special Court on Friday when it pronounced life sentences to the 31 other convicts.
Special Court judge Jyotsnaben Yagnik had asked the prosecution to produce Suresh Netalkar before the court on Monday so that his sentence could be pronounced. His bail guarantor too was warned of punishment if Suresh does not turn up before the court by today. The Special Court on Monday passed strictures against the SIT and asked it to get Suresh to the court by September 17.
