Suspended cop tears into Modi

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Ahmedabad: Suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt has written a scathing open letter to Narendra Modi questioning the timing of the CM’s Google+ Hangout chat and alleging that Modi had distanced himself from the Naroda Patia massacre verdict.
“You must have been apprised about the punishment meted out to your loyal lieutenants Maya Kodnani and Babu Bajrangi, as well as the misguided foot-soldiers of misconceived Hindutva who have now been condemned to spend a life in prison. Was it perchance that you smartly distanced yourself from all these unfortunate people at an opportune moment,” Bhatt’s letter said.
Bhatt has asked Modi if he had “spared a thought for the family members of the accused who have been sentenced to a lifetime behind bars? Have you even once thought about the plight of the wives and children of your one-time adulators who have been condemned for life?”
Pointing at the 2002 post-Godhra killings, the letter said: “Have you ever considered, even once, whether it is alright to facilitate or connive in the killing of another human just because he does not conform to your beliefs?”
Bhatt signed off saying: “I hope and pray to God that you get the time, wisdom and opportunity to find honest and truthful answers to some of these questions during this lifetime.”
‘How could you butcher kids?’
Ahmedabad:In an open letter to Maya Kodnani, convicted on Friday in the Naroda Patia riot case, Bhatt asks what prompted her to commit such a heinous crime. “Being a woman, a practising gynaecologist, how could you participate in the butchering of innocent, helpless women and children?” TNN
