HC reserves order in Jethava death probe Ahmedabad Mirror Bureau

Gujarat high court on Friday reserved its order on a petition seeking
a CBI probe into the murder of RTI activist Amit Jethava.
    Amit’sfather,BhikhaJethavahad filed a petition in the high court
seeking probe by CBI or any other independent agency. In the petition
filed in October 2010, he had alleged that the BJP MP from Junagadh,
Dinu Solanki, was behind the killing and the city crime branch was not
conducting an impartial probe.
    TheInvestigatingOfficerinJetha
va murder case had claimed before
the high court that Solanki had nothing to do with the case. In an
affidavit Surendranagar SP and the IO in this case - Raghavendra Vatsa
mentioned that no evidence was found against the politician during the
probe. He submittedthatthecalldetailsinvolving BJP leader and his
nephew Shiva Solanki, who allegedly bore grudges against Jethwa, could
not establish their involvement.
    Jethava’s father later on Friday filed an affidavit stating that
the failure of Investigating Office in bringing out the facts on
record, led to exoneration of Solanki.
    RTI activist Amit Jethava was killed on July 20, 2010 near Gujarat
high court by unidentified motorcycleborneyouth.Jethwahadfiledseveral
petitions in the Gujarat High CourtagainsttheForestDepartment. He had
also filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on illegal mining in the
Gir forests of Junagadh district.
