Former BJP minister Maya Kodnani who led a violent mob to Naroda Patiya 10 years ago, walked out of the court in tears, clinging on to her husband after she was awarded 28 years in prison by the special court on Friday. She also had by her side her sister and a handful of women supporters. Her party, the BJP, seemed to have deserted her completely.
This is in stark contrast to her earlier arrest when the party members had turned out in full force at the crime branch headquarters and shouted slogans like, “Mayaben tum aghe badho, hum tumhare saath hain.
