As part of its Bole Gujarat campaign, socio-cultural organisation – Act Now for Harmony and Democracy (ANHAD) – plans to come up with a series of short movies of duration two minutes or more.
The campaign aims to provide a platform to the unheard to express their grievances, or any development in their lives in the claimed Vibrant Gujarat. ANHAD will also hold conventions across the state to reach out to marginalised section of youth and women. Residential training camps too will be conducted for them. Ten theatre groups, which have been trained by them, will stage performances across the state to expose myth of Vibrant Gujarat.
Speaking at a press conference held Thursday, Shabnam Hashmi of ANHAD said Bole Gujarat will release five videos every week.
“Each week, videos will deal with several social issues like democracy, development and others,” said Hashmi.
ANHAD will put to use social networking websites like Facebook and Google to promote their campaign.
“Democracy will be the issue in the first week,” added Hashmi. Videos in thirty-second ad formats will be uploaded on these websites. Also on the cards is a stand-up comedy act on prevailing conditions of the state.
Further, Hashmi didn’t fail to take pot-shots at CM Narendra Modi regarding his recent comments about malnourishment in the state. Modi said womenfolk in the state are eating less to have a svelte figure.
“The chief minister’s statement is extremely patriarchal. This shows his ignorance about condition of the poor in Gujarat. It is very unfortunate that chief minister of a state believes that malnourishment in women is because they are conscious of their looks,” said Hashmi. Perhaps, it’s time someone informed him that 39% of people in developed state of Gujarat are actually living below the poverty line,” she added.
