Sohrabuddin’s brother moves HC to oppose accused cop’s bail plea

Rubabuddin Shaikh, brother of Sohrabuddin Shaikh who was killed by Gujarat Police in a fake encounter in 2005, has moved the Gujarat High Court to oppose the regular bail petition of suspended Gujarat-cadre IPS officer Abhay Chudasama who is the prime accused in the case.
Chudasama’s bail petition is pending before HC and Rubabuddin has sought to be joined as a party to the petition.
Rubabuddin is the complainant in the fake encounter case.
Rubabuddin’s lawyer Mukul Sinha said they have moved the petition because Rubabuddin is an affected party in the case and Chudasama is an influential officer who can influence the witnesses if freed on bail.
In August last year, the special CBI court had dismissed Chudasama’s bail petition saying he has been cited as the linchpin in the case by CBI.
Chudasama has challenged the order at HC and his petition is presently being heard by a single-judge bench.
