Court orders complaint to be filed against Rais Khan

Ahmedabad: The Mehsana sessions court has asked its registrar to lodge a complaint against Rais Khan Pathan, the former aide of social activist Teesta Setalvad, for furnishing false information in the court.
Pathan had sought to become a witness in the Sardarpura case to testify against Setalvad on how she had prepared false affidavits on behalf of the witnesses in the Supreme Court. The court has issued notice asking him why he should not be prosecuted for giving false evidence before a court of law with intent to cause a public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person.
The court ordered to book Pathan under IPC section 177 (furnishing false information) and also under section 182 (false information, with intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person). TNN
