ROGUE COP FINDS IT ‘ MANLY’ TO BE IN JAIL

FIVE years of incarceration and a post graduation diploma in value education and spirituality seem to have truly bolstered the conviction of the alleged killer cop of Gujarat — D. G. Vanzara. In the process, he has developed a new definition of manhood. The trigger happy cop — who landed behind bars for his alleged role in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case and is now a suspect in the murder of Mumbra- based teenager Ishrat Jahan and three others — said that people land up behind bars after doing something worthy of a ‘ man’. Vanzara was delivering a speech at Sabarmati Jail during the convocation where he, along with SIMI ideologue Safdar Nagori, were awarded their PG diploma in “ value education and spirituality” by the Annamalai University.

“ We are here as we have done something manly ( mardonwali),” Vanzara said, adding that a ‘ complete’ man is he who is happy in any condition — whether in jail or in a palace. While he also spoke on meditation and spiritual aspects of life, his definition of being ‘ manly’ made it clear that the IPS officer sees valour in killing unarmed women and doesn’t shy away from wearing his pride in his sleeves.
