Critical Date in SC (July 28 2011)

UPDATE

Case Against Chief Minister Narendra Modi and 61 Others Accused of Conspiring to Commit Mass Murder, Rape and Economic Destruction, Subvert the Justice Process, Not Prosecute the Guilty and Destroy Documentary Evidence

(SLP 1088/2008 Smt Zakia Ahsan Jafri and Citizens for Justice and Peace Against State of Gujarat and Others)

In January 2011, the Amicus Curaie (newly appointed) Senior Advocate Raju Ramachandran had submitted a ten page report on his assessment of the Special Investigation Team's report on the Zakia Ahsan Jafri and CJP Complaint against Narendra Modi and 61 Others.

On March 15, 2011,
the SC Special Bench hearing the Gujarat 2002 Mass Carnage Cases will asked the Special Investigation Team to relook at its report observing that its evidences do not match the inferences.

In April 2011
the sensational affidavit sent by serving IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt to the SC confirming illegal and unConstitutional instructions of the chief minister at a meeting held at his residence late on the night of the ghsatly Godhra train burning incident (27.2.2002) brought the SLP 1088/2008 back into national focus.

On May 5, 2011,
the SC i an unusual order asked the Amicus Curaie to independently assess the Report of the SC appointed SIT and report back to the SC on whether an offence against the accused persons has been made out.
Three days from now ie July 28 2011, the SC hearing on the critical issue will take place.

This is the backdrop in which the systematic targeting of Human Rights Activist Teesta Setalvad, Secretary Citizens for Justice and Peace has been taking place.
